Toyota Corolla Named 'Most Reliable Company Car' for 2026
The Toyota Corolla has consolidated its reputation as a dependable taxi choice after being named ‘Most Reliable Company Car’ in the influential Fleet News FN50 report for 2026.
As the best-selling car of all-time, the Corolla has developed an enviable reputation for bullet-proof reliability in the 58 years the nameplate has been in service on Toyota hatchback models around the world.
It’s a reputation that has formed the basis for the Toyota Corolla hatchback and the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports estate becoming the go-to model for taxi drivers seeking a reliable private hire vehicle.
Having finished second in the FN50 last year, the Corolla rises a place to claim the top spot in the annual assessment, which bases its results on data from the 50 largest contract hire and leasing companies.
“This latest award, among many bestowed on the current model, reflects the high-quality standards maintained at Toyota’s Burnaston plant in Derbyshire, the European production centre for the Corolla Hatchback and Touring Sports passenger cars and the Corolla Commercial hybrid van,” Toyota said in a statement.
While the report consolidates the Corolla’s popularity for rarely going wrong, taxi drivers have also been won over by the model’s frugal self-charging hybrid powertrain – which can deliver over 60mpg – and hard-wearing interior design.
Meanwhile, anticipation is also growing for the next generation Corolla, which is expected to arrive in 2028.
Previewed by a striking concept revealed at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025, recent renders developed from high-level sources suggest the model will remain faithful to the prototype’s sharp new look.
More excitingly for taxi drivers, however, is the suggestion the new Corolla hybrid will be capable of almost 100mpg without the need to plug the battery in.
For this 13th generation model, however, Toyota is also promising there will be the option of PHEV, full electric and even a hydrogen model too.
