Affordable, Stylish Omoda Taxi Range Arrives at The Taxi Centre

The full Omoda range – including the Omoda 5, Omoda 7 and Omoda 9 – can now be found at The Taxi Centre, providing a mix of frugal powertrains, generous specification and lots of space at an affordable price point.
Much like its sister brand, Jaecoo – which is also on offer for taxi and private hire purchases at The Taxi Centre – Omoda has rapidly ascended the UK sales charts since arriving on these shores at the start of 2025.
Its success has been built on the strength of an all-SUV line-up – the Omoda 5, Omoda 7 and Omoda 9 – that are likely to find favour with taxi drivers thanks to lavish specifications and large, luxurious interiors.
Better yet, they are among the most affordable SUVs on the market, which coupled to The Taxi Centre’s pledge to find you the best new taxi deal possible, makes each model an enticing buying prospect for private hire drivers, particularly those who operate Uber Lux and Uber XL.

Omoda 5 and Omoda E5
To put the Omoda 5 and electric Omoda E5 into context with its direct rivals, they are a similar size to other popular taxi options, such as the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Tucson.
And yet, based on price, they chime in closer to the equivalent Juke and KONA from those respective manufacturers.
It’s an affordability that proves tempting even before you consider the generous specification on offer, including LED headlights, synthetic leather seats, wireless phone charging, Android Auto/Apple Car Play, parking sensors, a full advanced safety suite and air-conditioning for front and rear passengers.

Indeed, the interior is a pleasant space to spend time, either behind the wheel or in the back seats.
Drivers will appreciate the clean, fuss-free fascia dominated by its central touchscreen and intuitive driver display, while passengers have plenty of space to stretch out in the rear. There is 380-litres of boot space too.
Under the bonnet, the Omoda 5 gets the choice of petrol, self-charging hybrid (FHEV) and full electric (BEV) powertrains.

Of particular interest is the self-charging hybrid powertrain, which generates a punchy 221bhp, which coupled with the small electric motor should see the Omoda 5 make light work of city traffic, but still provide plenty of performance out-of-town along with plus-50mpg.
The full electric Omoda E5, meanwhile, comprises a 58.9kWh battery that is capable of delivering over 260-miles of range and emitting zero emissions.

Omoda 7
Stepping up to the Omoda 7 gets you a more striking rendition of the firm’s design signature – or, as the brand refers to it, ‘futuristic’ – but however you describe it, there is no denying it’ll stand out on the taxi rank.
Based on the similarly-named Jaecoo 7, unlike that model – which has self-charging hybrid and electric option - the Omoda 7 comes with the choice of a 1.6-litre petrol engine or a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Using Omoda’s so-called ‘Super Hybrid System’, the PHEV unit marries a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with an 18.4kWh battery to generate 201bhp and return upwards of 48mpg. More importantly, the Omoda 7 offers an impressive 56-miles of electric-only range.

As with all models in Omoda’s range, specification is generous with kit that includes insulating ‘silent glass’, a heated leather steering wheel, synthetic leather seats, a 540-degree exterior camera and cooled wireless smartphone charger among the premium features on offer.
Compared to both the Jaecoo 7 and Omoda 5, the Omoda 7 is the more practical option with its massive 590-litre boot, while interior space is also very plentiful.

Omoda 9
At the top of the range is the Omoda 9, which is available solely as a PHEV (plug-in hybrid).
At almost 4,800mm in length, the five-seat 9 has plenty of on-road presence and it is size that translates inside with a huge 660-litre boot and plenty of space for three adults in the rear seats.

Better yet, the outermost rear seats can even recline to a degree to allow for an even plusher riding experience, making the Omoda 9 an ideal choice for Uber Lux and Uber XLUber Lux or Uber XL operators.
On the road, the Omoda 9 blends a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a 34.8kWh battery, which – considering this is a PHEV - isn’t far off the size some full electric car’s sole power source.
It’s perhaps little wonder then that Omoda claims a huge 93-miles of electric only range alongside the engine, for a total projected range of over 700-miles (according to the manufacturer/WLTP).
Such total range will provide reassurance for taxi drivers who operate in multiple locations with the zero-emission potential in low-speed areas backed up by the flexibility of a petrol engine for longer journeys.

It’s powerful too with 443bhp on tap, enough to propel the Omoda 9 to 0-62mph in less than five seconds.
Of more interest to fares, however, will be the comfortable and luxurious ambience inside where the extended space on offer is complemented by lavishly appointed materials that really emphasise premium feeling that belies the model’s value-oriented price point.
