Here's What to Expect from the All-New MG5

In this article, we give you a detailed insight into the all-new MG5 electric estate car coming at the end of this year, and how it may just be the next vehicle for your taxi service.

It’s the modern mobility vehicle which brings you style, practicality, and efficiency all in an affordable package- the MG5 electric estate car.

Combining high-tech driver assistance features with an all-new infotainment system, it provides the perfect vehicle for your taxi driving needs, helping you get your passengers where they need to go.

Drive in Style of the MG5

With the MG5 electric model, your customers can travel in style thanks to a range of fresh design features, including updated front and rear bumpers, new LED headlights and rear lights, and new alloy wheel designs.

When it comes to offering a professional taxi service to meet your customer’s needs, looks are important as having an up-to-date taxi such as the MG5 makes all the difference in providing a great experience for passengers.

MG5 - Fit For the Future

Another thing that makes the MG5 a popular taxi for both private and business customers is the host of advanced technology at your fingertips that comes with it.

This includes the driver assistance system ‘MG Pilot’, offering drivers top-of-the-range assistance features for a safer, more comfortable drive for you and your passengers.

From active emergency braking (with pedestrian and bicycle detection) and lane keep assist, to traffic jam assist and adaptive cruise control- you’re well set for the journey whatever you encounter.

Then there’s the MG iSmart app, which allows you to easily control charging, check your taxi status, locate your nearest charging points, and pre-set your vehicle’s climate control, allowing you to plan ahead and make sure your vehicle is ready to welcome every passenger.

All this in addition to the most updated interior technology features, with a new 10.25” colour touchscreen infotainment system, and 7” colour driver information display, so that everything you need is close at hand.

Spacious and Comfortable MG5

Praised for its spacious interior, the MG5 makes a great vehicle for private and public hire transport, thanks to its practically designed body style. This sees a boot volume of 578 litres to the roof, increased to 1367 litres with rear seats folded down, so that any luggage can be transported safely and efficiently.

With plenty of room to seat five people, your customers can get where they need to go comfortably and enjoy a relaxing journey in your taxi with lots of leg and head room. There’s even a leather style upholstery available with the Trophy Long Range model for a little added luxury!

A 6-way adjustable driver’s seat also ensures that you- the driver- will be sitting comfortably while driving, with a lumbar adjustment to provide proper back support, especially important during those longer journeys.

The MG5 is convenient for you

For taxi drivers, the MG5 offers you all the convenience needed to help you complete your journeys with ease.

During the drive, you can make the most of three driving modes (Eco, Normal and Sport) depending on your preference, and there’s also three regenerative braking modes to help make the most of your battery too.

There’s smart keyless entry, speed sensing locking, an electric parking brake and air conditioning with odour filter- features which will help make your drive easier and your passenger’s journey smoother, for satisfaction all round.

How the MG5 is Eco-Efficient

In today’s world of modern motoring, eco-efficiency can be an important part of the decision-making process when buying a taxi, as the world moves to cleaner energy sources.

For taxi drivers looking to reduce their emissions, the MG5 electric estate car could help to do just that, with a 100% electric battery and a range of 214 miles- plenty to get you and your passengers around.

Charging couldn’t be simpler, with the charging point located at the front of the vehicle above the registration plate. This comprises an AC and DC inlet port, according to leading charging supplier Zap-Map.

The top of the charger uses a Type 2 connector for home or public charging, and the MG5 can be charged using slow, fast, and rapid public charging points. For slow charging, this will require a 3-pin-to-Type 2 cable, while fast charging will require a Type 2-to-Type 2 Cable (one of these is usually provided).

Charging times vary from 50 minutes from 0-80% charge with a rapid 50kW charger, 8.5 hours from zero to full charge using a fast 22kW charger and fast 7kW charger, to 15 hours for a full charge using a slow 3kW charger.

This means that you can easily charge your MG5 whether it’s at home before a shift, or on the go between pick-ups throughout the day.
