Lord Provost Hails The Taxi Centre's New Location

Lord Provost Hails The Taxi Centre's New Location

The Taxi Centre, one of the UK's leading taxi providers, has relocated to new, upgraded premises in Glasgow as it continues its evolution following 25 years in business, with the new site officially opened by Bailie Marie Garrity.

The move comes as the business marked its 25th anniversary and sees The Taxi Centre transfer to a modern facility directly adjacent to its previous location on Kennishead Road in the Darnley area of the city.

The relocation keeps the business firmly rooted in its Glasgow heritage while significantly enhancing its operational capability and customer experience.

A key benefit of the new premises is the integration of vehicle sales and aftersales under one roof.

For the first time, customers can access dedicated LEVC servicing facilities on site, bringing sales, maintenance and support together in a single, streamlined location designed around the needs of professional drivers.

Alongside the physical move, The Taxi Centre is expanding its vehicle offering with the introduction of models from the innovative Geely brand, reflecting changing driver needs and the rapid evolution of the taxi and private hire market.

The expansion builds on The Taxi Centre's established expertise with electrified vehicles, including LEVC, and provides drivers with greater choice as the industry transitions towards newer technologies.

Stephen Porter, Branch Manager of The Taxi Centre, said: "Our move is a natural next step for the business as it looks to the future.

"Reaching 25 years gave us a moment to reflect on how far The Taxi Centre has come, but this move is really about what comes next. By bringing sales and aftersales together, we're making life easier for our customers and improving the day-to-day experience for drivers who rely on their vehicles to earn a living.

"The new site gives us the space, facilities and flexibility to support them better than ever."

The official opening was carried out by Bailie Marie Garrity, representing the Lord Provost of Glasgow, who welcomed the investment and highlighted the importance of long-standing local businesses continuing to grow within the city.

Councillor Jacqueline McLaren, Lord Provost of Glasgow, said: "The Taxi Centre has been part of Glasgow's transport landscape for a quarter of a century. This new premises shows a clear commitment to the city, to local jobs and to the taxi trade.

"It is encouraging to see a Glasgow-based business invest in modern facilities while staying true to its roots. I am delighted that Bailie Marie Garrity was able to support the celebrations and we wish them continued success."

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu Motor plc, the parent company of The Taxi Centre, said: "The Taxi Centre's relocation underlines the Group's long-term commitment to the sector.

"Stephen and his team have built its reputation by understanding drivers and adapting as the market changes

"This investment brings together sales, servicing and new technology in a way that genuinely benefits customers. It's a strong example of how we continue to back specialist businesses within Vertu and support innovation across our operations."
