Get a Load of This! Electric Skoda Vision O Previews New Skoda Octavia

The next generation Skoda Octavia Estate has been given a preview with the unveiling of the new Skoda Vision O concept car.

Still the best-selling car manufactured by Skoda and a perennial favourite among taxi drivers, the new Skoda Octavia is therefore a vitally important model for the Czech company.

As such, Skoda has taken the opportunity to reveal details of its plans for the Octavia’s future by exhibiting a new design study at the 2025 Munich Motor Show that goes a long way to showing the planned design direction for its next model.

Boldly revealed in estate form – indicative of the fact many drivers choose this body style over the hatchback – the Vision O concept gets a striking interpretation of Skoda’s latest design language with a wide, slender grille topped by thin light bars that transform into a wraparound ‘mouth’.

Despite its upright estate body style, the silhouette takes a rakish form in the floating roofline, while extending out beyond the rear-wheel to give the impression that interior space remains a priority.

At the rear, the T-shaped lights are inspired by the new electric Skoda Epiq, which was also shown in production form at the German event.

In terms of dimensions, the Vision O concept is longer than the current Octavia Estate but slightly smaller than the larger Superb Estate, while boot space is revealed to be a cavernous 650-litres.

Under the skin, the Vision O is mated to an electric powertrain, which goes a long way to suggest the next Octavia will be made available in an EV capacity for the first time. However, it is unclear whether it will be offered alongside conventional ICE versions too.

Indeed, modern technology is at the heart of the Vision O with autonomous driving a key feature that could prove popular with taxi drivers, while AI is set to feature strongly with a voice-controlled assistant named ‘Laura’.

Inside, the minimalist interior will likely receive an overhaul for production but expect to see an interpretation of the Vision O’s large portrait-aspect centre console screen and a large 1.2m high-set instrument display – named Horizon Display - on the centre console.

Horizon Display, which is controlled via a rotary dial on the centre console, is configurable, while there are even lighting modes – such as Tranquil – which helps passengers relax with dimmed lighting and seats that shift into a more comfortable position.

The next generation Skoda Octavia is expected to be unveiled in 2026 in preparation for hitting the market later in the year.
