1. Charging the TX taxi is not practical

While we can see why you may think as a taxi driver, you don’t have the time to wait for a full charge during the day, it’s unlikely that this would be the case.

Firstly, it’s important to note that the easiest way to run your TX taxi is with regular top-ups as and when you need them to keep your battery level from running low.

Thanks to the UK’s ever-growing network of public charging points, this means you’ll never be short of power when needed. In fact, GOV.UK states that there are now over 31,000 of these available across the UK, with 600 new chargers being added each month.

With many of these being rapid chargers, you can charge your TX taxi back up to 80% in as little as 30 minutes, so you’ll be on the road again soon enough!

Using sites such as Zap-Map and Chargemap, you can find your nearest charging station in minutes and browse everything from costs to charging times in advance, so you are well-prepared.

You can also charge from the comfort of your own home with a wall-mounted charging unit if you have off-street parking. This means you can easily charge your electric taxi overnight for a full boost, and you’ll be all set for the next day.

According to LEVC , the leading electric taxi provider are also working with local authorities and suppliers to expand the network for taxi-only charging bays to help taxi drivers get easier access to charging.

2. The TX is too expensive for a taxi

Another factor that can be off-putting when considering buying an electric taxi is the expense of owning one, though this is again, not necessarily the case.

Electrically driven taxis such as the TX can seem rather expensive when looking at the initial price tag. Though with an electric taxi, this is the only area where you will need to dig a little deeper when it comes to spending.

By using your 1.5-litre petrol range extender, you can also avoid the costs of regular charging. Thanks to its multiple driving modes, the TX is a taxi that lets you drive your way.

Electric vehicles have far fewer moving parts than traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. This means that after the initial cost of buying your electric taxi, you should expect reasonably low maintenance costs and basic servicing.

There are even some government grants and incentives available to help offset the initial cost of ownership! The UK Government are currently offering some taxi grants to help offset the purchase of electric taxis just like the LEVC TX.

This depends on the vehicle’s range, emissions, and design, and that they are also wheelchair-accessible vehicles.

The new TX taxi from LEVC is a perfect example of this, with a range of features designed to improve comfort and convenience for both driver and passengers, whatever their requirements.

Owning an electric taxi can be particularly beneficial for city driving, with electric vehicles currently fully exempt from LEZ and CAZ charges – more on this subject later.

Though they may be more pricey to purchase initially, there are plenty of ways you can save money with your electric taxi in the long run. It all starts with taking the plunge and going electric!

3. The TX taxi doesn’t have enough range

Another common misconception about the TX taxi is that they don’t have enough range to get you where you need to go.

The TX gives you up to 333 miles total flexible range, and with a selection of driving modes on offer, you can use this how you wish. The TX’s innovative eCity technology presents an electric battery and a small 1.5-litre petrol engine, known as a range extender.

This means you can switch between driving modes (Smart, Save, and Pure EV) depending on your preferences for an efficient journey each time. Save your battery’s energy for use in bigger city areas and enjoy exemptions from congestion charges.

With your TX taxi you can rest assured that with regular top-ups along the way, you will have plenty of range wherever the journey takes you.

4. The TX doesn’t meet emission regulations

In many major cities across the UK, there are now congestion charges in operation. These will be named either Low Emission Zones (LEZ), Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZ) or simply Clean Air Zones (CAZ).

When entering these zones, drivers will usually be charged a set rate each day during the zone’s operating hours. The aim of these zones is to cut back on harmful emissions to the environment and improve air quality for public health.

However, if you own an TX taxi, you will be exempt from paying these charges. This is because only vehicles which do not meet the city’s emissions regulation standards will be charged for entering these zones.

This could save both you and your business a lot of money over time, and it is well worth making the switch to electric and greener motoring. This also gives you one less thing to worry about on your daily travels.
