Nissan Delivers 300,000th LEAF
Nissan has announced record sales of its all Nissan LEAF vehicle, news that places the model as the world’s all time bestselling electric car.
The company revealed that it had sold and delivered its 300,000th Nissan LEAF vehicle in late 2017, a figure steadily built up since the vehicles’ global launch back in 2010.
Although upon launch reviews of the LEAF were somewhat tentative, the popularity of the vehicle has grown and grown in recent years, with consumers, drivers, and the automotive industry as a whole becoming more open to the idea of all electric vehicles. Alongside record sales the LEAF has also picked up swathes of industry approval, and in recent years has been crowned European Car of the Year, Japanese Car of the Year, and World Car of the Year
The LEAF has gained particularly strong popularity amongst taxi and private hire companies, with many drivers attracted to its low running costs and green credentials.
Commenting on the announcement, Nissan Executive Vice President Daniele Schillaci said: “These numbers prove that the Nissan LEAF remains the most advanced car in the world, with the widest reach and the greatest availability. The new Nissan LEAF is the icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility because it delivers an even more exciting drive and enhanced ownership experience and contributes to a better world. It will take Nissan’s EV leadership even further.”
Nissan’s success is likely to continue into 2018, with the launch of the new generation Nissan LEAF later this year. Thinking of switching to an all-electric vehicle? Then make sure to keep your eyes on The Taxi Centre website, where we’ll soon have great deals on all new Nissan LEAF vehicles.
