The Taxi Centre Gets Behind Nissan Leaf

This week, The Taxi Centre was delighted to receive a stock of the Nissan LEAF, Nissan’s market leading 100% electric vehicle.

The LEAF is one of the most acclaimed and widely successful electric vehicles to take to the road to date, counting the European Car of the Year award, the World Car of the Year award and the Japanese Car of the Year award among its many accolades.

Currently, there are two hundred LEAF taxis operating on British roads, a figure that is expected to exponentially rise over coming years as rapidly increasing numbers of local authorities, taxi companies and drivers commit to the cleaner power that electric vehicles enjoy. The LEAF engine produces no tailpipe emissions nor greenhouse gasses; it also makes less sound, keeping the car well-suited to populated areas.

The LEAF matches its environmental benefits with inexpensive running costs.Nissan electric taxis covered over three million miles in 2016 – the equivalent of one hundred and twenty trips around the world – at just two pence per mile, totalling a staggering £290,000 less than the diesel equivalent.

Allan McGinness, General Manager at The Taxi Centre, said: “We’ve been waiting for the right electric vehicle for the taxi industry and we’re convinced that the LEAF is that vehicle.

The LEAF has a proven track record in service with taxi operators large and small across the UK and can really help them achieve massive savings.”

Check out the Taxi Centre’s range of Nissan LEAF options to find out the many ways in which the switch to electric vehicles will benefit you today.
