Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and must count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls.

Calls to this number may be recorded for training and monitoring and quality control purposes.

    Taxi Comparison App Launches Second UK Location

    Karhoo, a new taxi comparison and booking app, has launched its second UK location.

    After an initial London launch in May, Karhoo has expanded its service area to Manchester, with founders hoping to rival already popular services like Uber and Gett.

    Like Uber, Karhoo allows users to book and pay for taxis in the local area through a mobile phone app. However, rather than having its own fleet of cars and drivers, Karhoo instead provides a list of local black cab, minicab, and executive car firms, offering a price comparison so users can pick the best deal.

    The app offers other alleged advantages over competitors; unlike Uber, users can pre-book vehicles months in advance, make multiple bookings, and choose immediate pick up. Perhaps even more attractive to potential users is the lack of surge pricing, and ability to see fare prices up-front.

    The company currently has a network of more than 90,000 cabs lined up from different firms in the city, and has been praised by local operators for providing a platform to compete with Uber on a more direct level.

    After hearing about the app’s successful two month stint in London, where Karhoo states that some operators reported revenue increases of up to 30%, Manchester firms have been quick to sign up to the service. Naeem Hamid of Manchester Cars said that the decision to join Karhoo was “simple”. “We’ve seen what Karhoo has done for the industry in London …. at a time when we are seeing work being taken away from local firms by other apps, Karhoo gives us the chance to get more rides that we did not have access to before.”

    Daniel Ishag, Karhoo’s Founder and CEO, said the app would be a “game changer” for the UK’s taxi industry. “Karhoo gives passengers more choice and transparency when booking a cab. With our ever-growing network of local operators, Karhoo will make it easier to book a ride than ever before”.

    Although founded in the USA in 2014, the UK was the company’s first port of call when looking to get the app up and running. Ishig, an Entrepreneur with no prior experience of the taxi industry, aims to expand Karhoo around the world to Los Angeles, New York, and Singapore by 2017.
